What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture uses very fine needles at points on the face and body to encourage local blood flow and release areas of held tension — particularly around the jaw, brow and eyes.

People generally come to us for:

The appearance of skin tone and circulation
Facial puffiness and tension
Softening the appearance of fine lines
A temporarily fresher, more lifted appearance

It is not a substitute for injectables or surgery and does not claim to be. Changes are gradual and temporary, they vary between individuals, and they are maintained with repeat sessions.

What to Expect

Your Session

Sessions run for a full hour with Shyam Ravrani. There is no downtime — you can go straight back to work afterwards.

1. Health Review
A short history covering your skin, sleep, medication and what you are hoping for. This matters for safety as much as for results.
2. Facial & Body Needling
Very fine needles are placed on the face and, usually, at a few points on the body to support the treatment as a whole.
3. Rest & Retain
The needles stay in for around twenty to thirty minutes. Most people find it deeply relaxing and a good number fall asleep.
4. Aftercare & Planning
Honest guidance on whether continuing is worthwhile, and how many sessions are likely to be useful for you.

Small bruises are possible, as the face is well supplied with tiny blood vessels, and usually fade within a few days.

Please let us know before booking if you are pregnant, take anticoagulant medication, have a bleeding disorder, have an active skin condition on the face, or have had facial injectables or laser treatment in the last two weeks. None of these are automatic reasons to say no, but they change how we treat.

The needles are far finer than the ones used for injections or blood tests. Most people feel a brief prick at a few points and nothing at the rest. It should not be painful, and if a point is uncomfortable, say so and it comes out.
Three is the usual starting point. A single session can leave you looking refreshed for a few days, but any change worth having tends to build over a short course. Shyam will be honest with you after the first session about whether continuing is worthwhile.
No. Nothing is injected and no substance is introduced. It is a different approach with a gentler, temporary effect, and it will not produce the same result.
It varies a great deal between people. Effects are temporary and are maintained with occasional top-up sessions rather than being permanent. Please also come with a clean face if you can — if not, we will remove makeup from the treatment areas before starting.
